Uxmal
Uxmal, south of Mérida, is one of the most elegant Mayan cities, built in the Puuc style with stone mosaics and carved facades. Its Pyramid of the Magician has an unusual oval base.
The Nunnery Quadrangle, the Governor's Palace and the Great Pyramid complete the site, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. From Cancun it is a long trip, so it is usually visited from Mérida.
