Isla Mujeres
Just five miles long and less than half a mile wide, Isla Mujeres is a sun-soaked island for those looking for the Caribbean of yesterday.
The white-sand beaches of the leeward coast, the rugged bays of the windward coast, offshore reefs and rich fishing grounds attract water sports fans. Playa Norte, on the northern tip, is the most famous beach and the favorite stop for yachts.
On the southern headland lie the remains of a small Mayan temple, with a spectacular view of the Caribbean and Cancun. Getting around is easy: bikes, scooters, taxis and golf carts are available for hire.
