My husband and I
went back to Mexico this past summer after
visiting Mexico the first time for our
honeymoon. Our first trip was to an adults
only all-inclusive which is all we have to
compare this trip to. I will list the pro's
and con's based on the comparison to the
past resort:
#1 Food - the food was good but not great (except
for the asian restaurant which was GREAT!).
The downside on the food is that you are
only allowed to pick 3 of the specialty
restaurants during your stay (regardless of
the length of your trip) and you have to
make reservations several days in advance...kind
of a pain. The rest of the time you are
eating at the buffets which are good but it
is not like the experience of the 'specialty'
restaurants. Room service is NOT included!
#2 Drinks - the drinks are in the smallest
glasses known to man so you are constantly
asking for a refill. You can ask for a 'big
boy' glass but most of the time they ran
out...The drinks were good but for the
drinkers out there this was a bit of a pain.
#3 Rooms - ok the standard room is no better
than a Motel 6; sorry but true! We upgraded
before we even dropped off our baggage to a
suite which made the world of a difference.
We are talking Motel 6 to the nicest hotel
room/suite I have EVER stayed in! It was
GEORGOUS and definately worth the little
extra in price!
#4 Beach - beautiful but very rocky...water
shoes are a must unless the water is very
calm and you can take your time. I would
recommend snorkeling in the inlet as there
are a TON of fish. All of the non-motor
water sports are included so take advantage
of them but you are limited to one hour per
day/per activity.
#5 Location - Puerto Aventuras is absolutely
charming; a short 3 minute bike ride to the
marina and you can see free dolphin shows!
Many cute shops and plenty of nice/cheap
restaurants to check out as well. Love this
place first and foremost for the location!!!
Puerto Aventuras is VERY close to XCaret and
XPlor (we went to XPlor and we recommend it
to EVERYONE!!!! - the ziplines alone are
worth the money!).
#6 Spa/Exercise facilities - check out both
as they are very nice and worth a visit
#7 - Pools - they were ok but since there
were so many children everywhere I was a bit
worried...during the day some of the
cleaning crew would be out scrubbing the
sides of the pool which would mean there was
a lot of 'stuff' in the water while they
were scrubbing (kind of gross)
I think I covered it all...hope you have a
great time on your next adventure!
