I traveled with a large group of people on an educational tour and the staff at Hotel Las Golondrinas was very friendly and helpful. We were with a large group for two nights but decided to extend our stay three additional nights after the group departed. The hotel is beautiful; it literally has trees and plants in the small open area where the pool is. At night it is so pretty with their decorative lights that hang over the pool and in the trees. The rooms open up to this beautiful area. The hotel has a nice breakfast available in the mornings. The teenagers especially liked the free internet and computer use in the lobby. The hotel is approximately 4-5 blocks from the beach but 1-2 blocks from Myers (grocery store/department store). The people that worked the front desk spoke english and were very helpful with informing us about the area and travel tips. The rooms were very clean, had air conditioning, cable tv, had a bottle of water each day, free water in entry, and the maids always made our towels into different designs each day (like a cruise). Playa del Carmen is a wonderful place to visit the locals are extremely nice. Always bargain, never pay the first price! We loved the area and will definitely go back to Hotel Las Golondrinas! My husband threatened to lose our passports, so we could stay.
