Hacienda Real del Caribe is a very lovely full service hotel. Located centrally in Playa del Carmen, the hotel provides a wonderful respite from the hustle and bustle that Playa has become. Yes, the hotel is on a the busy corner of Calle 10 at Avenida 10, but once the windows and sliders were closed the room was literally noise proof. Testament of this was that during our stay there were several Carnaval events and street fairs taking place in the municipal complex; continuing to late night/early morning, the noise level was not a problem, at all. This is particularly eventful as our room was the directly on the corner. My only area of concern is that a situation with our suite's air conditioner was not rectified in good time, nor satisfactorily until our negotiator finally went to management and requested our room be changed, after a most uncomfortable night's sleep. The hacienda setting, with a nice sized pool in the courtyard, is very quaint and comfortable. Interior courtyard rooms have hacienda windows which open out into the courtyard. The pool is well maintained and has full-service from the onsite restaurant. Service is above extraordinary and most welcomed. A bucket of beer is brought out in a champagne bucket... I like that style! We dined lunch at the pool and enjoyed, very much, the food and service. Meals: the continental breakfast included is coffee, OJ and toast. Some mornings we would have a full breakfast on site and, again, service is exemplary. Front desk service is accommodating, cleanliness of the rooms above average. Beds are the usual hard beds but linens are very high quality. There is an assortment of pillows available, as well. Bathrooms include shampoo, conditioner, soap, body lotion, hair dryer, magnifier mirror. There is an in room safe, iron and ironing board. On another note, the rooftop would be a lovely spot for a destination wedding or celebration. There is an enclosed solarium, which looked quite large, and has a wonderful sea view. The high season price is a bit high, but considering the location and hotel amenities Hacienda Real del Caribe is a good value, especially for families or friends sharing a suite.
