The Reef Playacar Playa del Carmen Transportation from airport to The Reef Playacar Playa del Carmen:
Rent a car at The Reef Playacar Playa del Carmen rental location
Comments & Reviews about The Reef Playacar Playa del Carmen: We spent a week at
the Reef Playacar from August 8 through
August 14, 2009, and were not disappointed!
Having read many of the reviews on Trip
Advisor about people getting sick at this
resort, we had some concerns but were
willing to take our chances and are so very
glad we did. The Reef is unlike any of the
other resorts (and we've stayed at quite a
few) and this was our second visit. Since
our visit in 2005, the resort has added an
ice cream parlor set on the edge of the
cenote which gives snack time an added
garden charm surrounded by the sounds of
falling water and the lush greenery. They
have also enhanced the "patio" area that is
set in the center of the jungle in the
middle of the resort by adding sofas, tables
and chairs -- at 5 pm they serve designer
coffee with your choice of liqueur and tiny
dessert nibbles -- it's absolutely charming
and quite decadent in a wonderfully
indulgent way. The beach is as beautiful as
ever.
Our room was very clean and pleasant without
any of the issues mentioned by previous
guests about leaking air conditioners or
whatever. Our patio (ground floor) was
nestled in the jungle area and we enjoyed
watching the Agoutis (small animals) forage
for their food.
The food was nicely prepared with a
reasonable amount of variety, considering
that this is an all-inclusive buffet style
eating arrangement. It is by no means
gourmet, but if a traveler wants 5 star
dining, I would suggest they pay the $400
per night at a more expensive resort to get
it. The Reef's food is plentiful, varied,
some of it is cooked to order, and there is
something to suit everybody.
We enjoyed the variety of international
visitors and socialized with folks from
France, Germany, Italy and the USA. The Reef
has become very popular with Europeans and
provides a much more cosmopolitan atmosphere
than our previous visit.
Because we have visited Playa Del Carmen
quite a few times before and have been to
Cozumel, Tulum, Coba, Chichen Itza and
various other attractions, this visit we
spent most of our time at the resort
although we did spend a day/evening at
Xcaret which was wonderful and we would
highly recommend it.
Considering we were able to spend a week at
the Reef Playacar, including round trip air,
food, alcohol and everything included for
around US$700.00, we consider it fantastic
value and are now planning to go at least
twice a year. Reserve The Reef Playacar Playa del Carmen
