Comments & Reviews about Cancun Palace Resort:

Hotel: The hotel was clean, room was a little small, but we got an ocean view without even requestion one, due to low season. Staff was super friendly and attentive to anything you need. Even though tips are included in the all-inclusive package, we still tipped. I brought $50 in $1's based on another person's comment's and it totally worked in ensuring I tipped appropriately.
Food: The food was not the best I had, in fact it was not very good. But I'd say our favorite restaurant was the Oriental Restaurant where you need a reservation to sit at the Chef's table. The chef will cook and give a Benihhanna type of show as you eat a light appetizer. The wine selection is poor. Most of the wines on the list are young Chilean, Mexican or Spanish wines that are not ready to be opened. It was truly a waste because on one occassion we had them open several bottles in a failed attempt to find a good one, eventually we gave up on drinking wine.
Pool & Beach: The beach was very nice, the water was super warm and running along the shoreline in the mornings was a pleasure. The pool was also very pleasant. There are two swim-up bars at each end, and at one end there is a DJ playing music. On this end is where the adults gather to drink, dance and mingle with one another. On the other end is where you'll see the older people and a few kids. If you drink too much the night before, make sure to order a Suero at the pool, it's a drink to help you retain water as it contains a lot of salt.
Spa The spa although nice, was not impressive. I had a facial and a deep tissue massage. My massage was very good, although I was really sore the next day. But my facial was a waste of time and money. I could have done a better facial at home. I was also dissapointed to learn that extractions are only included in the 80 minute facial. Get a massage, it's a better deal and good use of your $150 credit.
Extracurricular Activities: The hotel charges $119 to take you Xcaret ($69 entrance fee & $30 transportation fee). Since there was 6 of us going, we rented a car from Executive Car Rental and paid $75.00, which saved us a lot of $$. Plus if you pay with Amex, you get $15% off at the door at Xcaret. Chichen Itza & Zip Line was included in the package. If you go to Chichen Itza, beware not to buy anything ridiculously expensive at the tourist shopping stops the tour bus stops at.
Party/Night Life: Go to Coco Bongo. It's a fun place! The party starts at about 11 and goes on til 5, 6 in the morning. The entrance fee is about $55 if you buy your tickets before 7pm (have the hotel connect you with a sales rep from coco bongo for additional info) and it includes open bar.
Need to know: As soon as you get there, the staff is going to want to sit with you and talk to you about the hotel and what's included in your package... they really want to sell you a time share. Unless you are in the market for a time share, this is a waste of time. The only person you need to meet with is a Tours Representative to make your reservations for any activities included in your package, i.e., chichen itza.
