Comments & Reviews about Avalon Grand Cancun: Most of the reviews you read on here are way off. Yes, there is a beach with steps leading to it, and you don't have to jump a wall. Yes, Cancun has beaches... Yes Cancun has beaches... Yes, there will be moisture on the floor when you open your sliding glass door to the outside and leave it open, with the AC on. Please, take a basic science class on moisture and condensation. No, there are no cracks in the walls and the staff works very hard daily taking care of the place in 95+ temperatures. The staff does a great job of making you feel welcome. I don’t know what some of the others who reviewed this resort, where looking for, but, i greatly doubt they would be happy if they stayed in a five star resort with everything free and had their own personal slave (negative people are always going the be miserable) The only draw back was that the beaches closed (at every resort) at 7pm in Cancun. The pools at the Avalon Grand also closed at 8pm, but, when we asked if we could swim later they accommodated us, and we stayed in the pool till 10pm or so. There were limitations on the availability of services, only one restaurant was open, and the lounge bar stayed open till 11pm, pool bar closed at 8pm. So if you where thinking of doing the all-inclusive meal and drink package... maybe reconsider??? We did not. We decided to make our own meals mostly in the morning and at time for lunch. You can get to a Wal-Mart by bus, which costs 15 pesos for two people (which is .65 cents US, and it will take you everywhere for that, don’t pay more than that they will try to get you to pay more. they do carry rate sheets just ask for it.) Beware, of the taxis sitting out side the resort they always want too much to go anywhere, learn to haggle. You can travel everywhere in Cancun by bus, except to the airport. Market 28 is an experience, to myself it is not worth the constant begging, the vendors bombard you, so be ready. Isla Mujares (Island of Women) is a must to see. Ride the bus to the ferry to shuttle you across $14 us round trip. Then rent a golf cart to explore the beautiful little island. Stop by the small market in the center of the Island and eat and drink at Sancocho's Grill, they simply make the best mixed drinks we ever had, hint: try the Pina colada's and you cant beat the prices Two for One all the time, for roughly $4 US, bottles of beer $1 US. The market prices for the same crafts where a lot cheaper than market 28 as well, with less haggling... Buy your peso's in Cancun we got much better rates in Cancun 13.5 peso for every one us dollar, than in the US 11.5 peso per us dollar. The connivance stores in the hotel district say they never carry US change and will try to give you your change in peso's and they will cheat you every chance they get. No matter what you can always ask questions. The Mexican people will gladly help you, unless they are a cab driver or merchant, so just ask... I must say this was truly an amazing trip. Cancun is a must to see and visit!!!! We will be back next year!!!! Reserve Avalon Grand Cancun
